After 3 Triathons I am feeling good and am more confident I can do and IronMan by 2010. I ain’t looking to win. I just want to finish mid pack. For the Last 3 triathlon here were my times:
| Race # | Finish Time | Swim Plc | SwimTime | Trn1 Plc | Trans #1 | Bike ST Time | Bike Plc | Bike Time | Bike Rate | Cum Plc | Cum Time | Trn2 Plc | Trans #2 | Run Plc | Run Time | Pace /mile |
| 3 | 1:16:13 | 167 | 8:11 | 104 | 2:33 | 10:43 | 132 | 26:37 | 18.0 | 132 | 37:20 | 227 | 2:26 | 236 | 36:28 | 12:10 |
| 2 | 1:11:57 | 18 | 7:39 | 19 | 3:14 | 10:52 | 17 | 26:28 | 18.1 | 17 | 37:20 | 25 | 3:15 | 24 | 31:23 | 10:28 |
| 1 | 1:18:43 | 31 | 8:44 | 30 | 3:13 | 11:57 | 31 | 30:10 | 15.9 | 32 | 42:07 | 27 | 1:32 | 35 | 35:06 | 11:42 |
The 2nd race was my best time over all. I was sick for a couple weeks before the 3rd, so my training suffered. On the 3rd, I tanked on the run. Right before the transition between the bike and the run, there is a huge hill. The mistake I made was to really pump up the hill. I flew up the hill, but it killed my energy for the run. I ended up walked for about 3/4 of a mile of the run. I just didn’t have the energy. So I will need to pace my self. The swim was ok, but I need to train more on the swim. I didn’t cramp at all, so the core/ab workouts are giving me more ab strength which is good. I got nervous on the swim. I started off free style, but I began to lose my breath a little so I started breast stroke. I need to do some more swimming so I feel more prepared.
One thing I noticed: On the second tri I used a friends 20lb specialized bike and kept 18 mph average. On the 3rd tri I used my 42lb Raleigh and kept the same speed. This means my legs are getting stronger and the pedal straps have made a big difference. Once I save enough money to get a proper Cannondale, I am going to fly !!!

Completed in 1:15. 3 Minutes slower than last time. 8 minutes for the swim; got kicked in the face and I elbowed someone. On the bike I averaged 19-20 mph. So doing very well. But the run. The run killed me. It may have been the week that I was sick, but the run was hard. Also the heat. For 1/2 the run it felt like I was running in hot dead air. The heat really takes the energy out of me. I don’t know how to get through that, but I need to figure a way to get through it. The humidity may have been a factor too. Very thick air. I think the heat is a factor because of trying to get cool air into the lungs.
But I completed it. I took the first step and last. My relatives were there. I really like having the support. I don’t think I am ready to swim a mile, so I will wait until September and do another sprint. Plus now, I have to start training for the Disney marathon in January. That is the next big challenge to over come. 26.2 miles. I am going to rework my training schedule. I love doing these. Need to push more.

Time to retire the shoes: Over 300 miles!

The 2nd triathlon went great. A good friend of mine let me borrow his bike. It was only three weeks since the last, so a shortened training time; but the leg strengthening has made a difference in the time. I wanted to shave 10 minutes, but I only cut 7 minutes. Special thanks to my Dad who took all the pictures. The Clermont series is really good. The even is professional and the have their stuff together. Sommer Sports puts on the event and it is great.

Getting the bike set up with my brother.

Going into the staging area.

Getting the bike setup. I forgot a towel, but oh well.

The swimming beach

Getting ready with my super fast green speedos

And my cool nose plug.

Race starts and I am gone.

Out of the water. 1 Minute quicker than last time.

On the way to the transition area.

Getting clicked in to the bike.

Locked in and riding.

Finished the bike and on too the run.

Obligatory race path picture.

Red shirt on and running.

On the run. The second mile was the worst. Felt like it would never end. 3rd mile was easy.

Finished 7 minutes faster than last time.

I am done !!!

And here I am “bonking” Its a right of passage for an Athlete.
